Baby survives 1-in-13-million odds

Millie-An Pittman surprised doctors who initiated a c-section on her laboring mother: Millie-An had gestated as a rare abdominal pregnancy. In an ectopic pregnancy, the embryo usually implants in the mother's fallopian tube. In an abdominal pregnancy, the embryo moves outside the mother's reproductive tract entirely and implants in the abdomen. The maternal fatality rate for such pregnancies is 1 in 200; the fetal mortality rate is so close to 100% that only 100 cases have been documented in which the baby survived.

Welcome to the outside, Millie-An!
